I performed this poem at Second Sunday Spoken Word last night – it was a soft experience, playful and calm
My hunch is because I had experienced a sabbath
The day was a melody as I simmered in awareness of God’s presence from dawn until dusk
Beginning with Father John Robert Skeldon at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral
Then, pausing over a hot matcha and warm cranberry and orange scone at Crude Craft Coffee Bar in Near Southside FTW as I gazed out the window admiring the fall leaves dancing in a light breeze
And finally, allowing these words to move through me in a spirit of wonder and as an invitation for us to come alive

We are being as well as becoming
Each is made in the gaze of the other
Traveling not from one to the other but deeper within
Living the eternal lesson of learning to love being human
destined to forget and remember
Unfolding uncovering it is the experience we call life
enlivening enriching accompanied being as well as becoming
