We took our oldest son to Vegas for a last hoorah and a bit of debauchery and gluttony before he shipped off to Korea for almost a year. While we were there I had a super cool experience that I want to share with you. Perhaps it will give you a new insight into what surrendering is as an experience rather than a concept. As humans, we learn from experience. This is how it went down. David gambled. David lost money. Pretty common, huh? Here’s what I learned from watching him. His number was 23. Six different times, as soon as he would step away from the table, his number would hit. SIX DIFFERENT TIMES. My hunch is that as soon as he’d step away, he’d relax and let go of his tension around winning. Imagine reaching for a feather. The act of reaching for it sends it farther away. This isn’t a magic formula, but I have found that when you practice these three steps you’ll be a lot closer and less frustrated as you work to create what you want in your life. 1. Set an intention. (What do you want?) 2. Focus your attention on what you want to create, NOT what you want to avoid. 3. Relax so that you can enter the space for it to happen. Extra credit: 4. Move while you pray. This aligns your head, heart, and hands. Vivi |
