Pause & Reflect…before you move forward.

July 7, 2016 By Vivian Leave a Comment

I know that it’s counterintuitive to take a step back, to pause and reflect before you move into action.

Generally, our attention and focus are on what needs to get done and where we need to go.

We feel its really important to get on to the next thing.

Or is it?

If your focus is centered only on what you can see, what you want to have, or the results that need to be achieved, you’ll lose your awareness of what lies beneath everything.

If your focus is only outward, you’ll miss the conscious act of becoming the person that is capable of behaving in a way that produces your desired results.

Now tell me, what is it you truly desire? What do you really want, not with your eyes but what do you want with your heart.

Living consciously is a state of being mentally active rather than passive. It is the ability to look at the world through fresh eyes. It is intelligence taking joy in its own function. Living consciously is seeking to be aware of everything that bears on our interests, actions, values, purposes, and goals. It is the willingness to confront facts, pleasant or unpleasant. It is the desire to discover our mistakes and correct them… It is the quest to keep expanding our awareness and understanding, both of the world external to self and of the world within.
